We read a lot of picture books at our house. I checked my library account, and over the last year, we checked out almost 1500 books.
I love reading to all my children, but especially my first grader. At bedtime, I’ll bring 3 or 4 books up to her room and lay them out on her bed. First, she looks over all the covers. Then she asks me to read the titles. And before making her final decision, she opens them up to look at the end papers. Once she considers these very important factors, she chooses the book we start with.
After reading, I ask her if she liked it. She only admits to liking about 20% of the picture books we read. I secretly love that she’s a tough critic. And she has great taste. So today, I’m sharing some of her recent library favorites:
· Are You a Cheeseburger? by Monica Arnoldo
· Big and Small and In-Between by Carter Higgins and Daniel Miyares
· Bunny’s Book Club by Annie Silvestro and Tatjana Mai-Wyss
· How to Apologize by David LaRochelle and Mike Wohnoutka
· Hurry Up! by Kate Dopirak and Christopher Silas Neal
· Jet the Cat (Is Not a Cat) by Phaea Crede and Terry Runyan
