Lessons Learned Through Foster Care & Adoption

“Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24 CSB

Kate and her family have spent over a decade as a licensed foster home. During this time, they welcomed 14 children from the age of newborn through 18. Some stayed only a few nights, one is staying forever. Through this journey, Kate has learned a lot about brokenness—but even more than that—about restoration, redemption, and God’s lavish provision. This talk is full of stories that will encourage every woman’s faith as she hears testimony of God’s miraculous goodness. It will lift the heart of anyone who has wondered, "Where is God in the middle of brokenness?"

Through the Sea:
God’s Water-Parting Provision in the Middle of our Desert

“Your steps formed a highway through the seas with footprints on a pathway no one even knew was there.” Psalm 77:19 TPT

Structured around Exodus 14, this message is a reminder of God’s tender, intimate, water-parting provision. Kate will share her own stories of desert experiences, lost hope, and how God answered each of her struggles. Whether you are feeling God’s faithfulness in full-force, or are praying for a miracle that has not yet happened, this message encourages listeners to lean into the goodness of God.

Living Bold,
Taking Risks,
Saying "Yes!"

“I will run after you with delight in my heart, for you will make me obedient to your instructions.” Psalms 119:32 TPT

Kate’s number one goal in life is obedience to Christ, because that's where our deepest intimacy with Him is found. The problem is, God doesn’t call us to comfort. How do we know what God is calling us to? What if God asks us to do something really hard? Is obedience worth it? Be inspired to live intentionally. Get ready to say “Yes!”

Helping Our Adopted Children Embrace Their Stories

“I will speak using stories...We will not keep them from our children. We will tell those who come later about the praises of the Lord. We will tell about his power and the miracles he has done.” Psalm 78:2, 4 ICB

Talking with our children about adoption can feel overwhelming. How do we start? What do we say? Kate uses her experience as a children's author to empower parents to take small pieces of their child's history and turn them into treasured stories.

Bridging the Information Gap: Building Connections When Your Child's History Has Missing Pieces

“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.” Isaiah 54:13 NIV

For our kids who have been adopted or who are in foster care, there is likely a gap between what we know and the details of their full story. In this conversation, Kate shares several ideas on how to bridge this gap, creating connections in the absence of information.

Reenergize Reading with Your Kids

“Reading is a passport to countless adventures.” Mary Pope Osborne

As a picture book author, reading is one of Kate's favorite topics! She loves how books create connections with each and with the world. Kate shares about the holistic benefits of reading, how to use books to boost social emotional learning, and tips to make reading fun.
